We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Payment Operations Manager to join our team. 

This is a foundational role, responsible for building and managing the backbone of our global payment infrastructure. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, finance, risk, and external partners (like Stripe, Paddle, Primer etc.) to ensure frictionless payment flows and continuously optimize transaction success. You’ll be instrumental in driving operational excellence, scaling our payment systems, and mitigating risks such as disputes and chargebacks.

Some of your responsibilities

💳 Payment Provider Management

  • Manage relationships and integrations with multiple Payment Service Providers (PSPs) including StripeAdyenCheckout.com, and others.
  • Evaluate and onboard new PSPs as needed to ensure optimal global coverage and performance. 

🔁 Payment Flow Optimization

  • Leverage payment orchestration tool to intelligently route and retry transactions across PSPs for improved success rates.
  • Design and implement logic for smart routing, fallbacks, retries, and payment method selection based on performance data. 

🌍 Global Operations & Scalability

  • Own the end-to-end global payment operations across multiple legal entities and markets.
  • Collaborate with legal and finance teams to ensure compliance with local regulations, tax handling, and reconciliation. 

📈 Success & Conversion Optimization

  • Monitor and analyze transaction data to identify drop-off points, failure patterns, and conversion opportunities.
  • Work with PSPs and internal stakeholders to increase authorization success rates through network tokenization, 3DS optimization, and retry strategies. 

🛡️ Dispute & Fraud Mitigation

  • Develop and operate dispute-handling processes by integrating with services such as Ethoca and Verifi.
  • Track, report, and reduce chargeback rates by identifying root causes and implementing proactive defenses. 

📊 Reporting & Insights

  • Create and maintain dashboards that track key payment KPIs, including approval rates, failure reasons, dispute rates, and provider performance.
  • Share insights with product, engineering, and finance teams to drive iterative improvements.

 

What we look for

Must-Haves:

  • 4+ years of experience in payment operations, fintech, or PSP management.
  • Strong knowledge of global PSPs like Stripe, Adyen, Checkout.com, and payment orchestration tools preferably Primer.
  • Proven track record optimizing payment flows and conversion through retry logic, smart routing, and provider benchmarking.
  • Experience with chargeback and dispute management, ideally using tools like Ethoca and Verifi.
  • Analytical mindset with experience using tools like SQL, Excel/Sheets, Looker, or similar for data analysis.
  • Comfortable working across multiple time zones and global teams.
  • Excellent communication and vendor management skills.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience in app, e-commerce, SaaS, or multi-entity businesses with complex payment requirements.
  • Familiarity with card network rules, 3DS protocols, network tokens, and BIN strategies.
  • Knowledge of compliance topics such as PCI DSS, PSD2/SCA, and local payment mandates.
